I had a shoulder replacement in April 15 because of severe arthritis . I was in constant pain with very little movements of the shoulder ,making me dependent on my husband for daily activities . I consulted Mr Patel who was vey understanding he listen to my problem and discussed it and explained me fully that I needed a shoulder replacement . The care and attention I received from him before ,during and after surgery was excellent . I am very please to say that the surgery has been very successful It has improve the quality of my life a great deal . I am now quite independent can get on with my daily activities like dressing up, able to shower without help can get on with my cooking , started driving again etc. I am extremely satisfied with the excellent care I received from Mr. Patel

From 2007 I had increasing discomfort then pain in my right elbow from sitting hours and hours working in front of the computer. By spring 2013 I was seriously disabled. My excellent GP got me an early appointment with Mr Vipul Patel. He saw me promptly and listened to my story asking questions as I went along. Then he examined me thoroughly. He explained that it was probably quite serious damage to the biceps tendon and I had to have an MRI. Since I have a pacemaker this was quite complicated but he fixed it for me at St Helier Hosp with Mr Richard Norcliffe in charge and a Cardiologist there in case anything went wrong. Fantastic care. He saw me again within a few days and showed me on the MRI how the tendon was close to having 'rotted' through. He repaired it beautifully with Dr Sandy Kidd giving me the anaesthetic just right. He arranged the physio for me and went on seeing me until it was all healed up. Thanks to his fantastic care it is has been absolutely fine for a long time now and I can just about do anything. First class job in every way.

Mr Patel is one of the most professional, honest and at the same time very likable doctors I have ever met. He was totally open about the problems and pitfalls he would encounter repairing my shoulder but made me feel 100% confident that he would do whatever was necessary and within his medical powers. Post the operation he has seen me regularly and at every stage put me at ease with the progress made and the further progress still to be made. If any prospective patient would like to contact me I would be happy to talk to them about my experiences with this tremendous consultant. I have full trust in this consultant . I have had 2 laproscopies of my shoulder both sides in 2004 and 2007 at St Anthony's. Which was very successful. Unfortunately the Profession I am in Radiographer and wearing of aprons long hours in theatre, excerts alot of pressure on my shoulders and as I also tend to do alot of heavy DIY which I love, I had reactivated the shouder problem again and had to have a redo at St Helier. This again was a very successful laproscope and I have got back at least 80% of my movement and am pain free. Mr Patel will only do any OPs only if it is justified and warrants it, and it improves the life style of the patient. I also work with this surgeon in a private practice and watched him do these operation. He is very methodical and takes his time to get everything right as to the reason I chose him as my Consultant for my shoulders. He is a man of few words but a good listener
